The Waterfall

Yoshi stared at the water. He had always done his best hadn't he? This had been exciting, a reward, a chance to see the world as it was! and  then came Slow Tide Harbour and all his illusions had fell crashing to the floor. It had started well. They had pursued evil and succeeded in thwarting it but in the process, one little tiny mistake, they had forgotten about the two criminals they had locked up in an out of the way warehouse. Having done so they then locked up and arrested everyone else who might have had cause to go to that warehouse and in the exhilaration of success and vindication had forgotten about those men who  had died horribly. His companions did not seem unduly bothered. It was not as if they would have lived long post arrest anyway. All their 'arrested' compatriots had been promptly executed by irritated Tortoise Samurai but to Yoshi this was not the point.

They had been following the escaping evil leader when the news came through and it was as if the ground had fallen from under his feet. He knew he had been cursed by Maho in the fight at the docks and the others attempted to persuade him to cleanse himself - as if that would change the crime his inattention had committed. Then to his horror of horrors it looked like that same criminal had kidnapped a Samurai child to be used and likely killed in a hideous ritual. Masako and Sakura both had tried to explain that this proved they were right to pursue immediately. That this was an evil that demanded all their attention and they may be right but does the defeat of evil demand evil acts however unintentional?

Yoshi could not see the correct path either way he felt as if his core values were directly contradicted by  the actions he needed to carry out and this demanded clarity.

He had resolved to meditate on the issue and having found a suitable Mountain waterfall would stay until the Kami, his Daimyo or his own logic showed the path forward.

Masako and Sakura had stayed a while and tried to persuade him but failed. They did not truly understand. In the end Sakura had received a note from her Daimyo asking her to be the Dragon clan representative at a wedding at Kyotei Castle and as Sokori's trail had gone cold had decided to accept after sending word to the Ruby Champion. Masako had seemed unusually keen to follow her. Yoshi did not know why but felt Masako had other reasons beyond Emerald Magistrate Business. It was not currently his concern was - pursuit of harmony was though. At least for now.

GM Note

Our Yoshi player is leaving the group due to work load, hopefully temporarily, so this is our explanation as to 'why'. We have a new Phoenix player joining up so I am  switching to run the more intro scenario of the Wedding  where this new character will have been sent to investigate the imbalances with the Kami there (dependant on family/house) and our two valiant heroes will be joining with very different aims and perspectives.
